With the proper insights, tips, and resources, as outlined below, you’ll start believing that the best investment is always yourself.
This post is all about how to invest in yourself as a woman.
How to Invest in Yourself as a Woman
The most pressing question we tend to ask ourselves when working through personal development books or podcast episodes is what does it mean to invest in yourself?
By virtue, it is a self mastery practice that requires going extremely inward – pouring time, effort, and energy into bettering our reality and understanding ourselves.
Investing in yourself is also a slow game; however, with the right motivation and strategies, it truly morphs into a lifestyle. Once you commit to investing in your well-being, you’ll seriously feel like you’re on a high as the results trickle in.
It’s also important to note that there is not much of a difference in how to invest in yourself as a girl, either. Regardless of age, investing in yourself is an individualized tactic. It is centered around taking ownership of creating a better reality for oneself.
How Do I Start Investing in Myself?
Well, I’m about to get right into how to invest in yourself as a woman, so don’t move!
With these motivational tips in mind, you’ll be well-equipped to always invest in yourself. But remember – reading about these strategies is only half the battle.
The most important element is putting these ideas into action. It’s the only way you’ll alter your current life and gain the benefits you seek.
And now, drum roll please…
1. Set boundaries
One of the most critical components of your wellness journey has to be the art of setting boundaries.
Protecting your peace and practicing moral discipline are paramount to feeling content in your own skin. As a matter of fact, these initiatives prevent you from surrounding yourself with people and situations that weigh you down.
One of my favorite invest in yourself quotes is that you can’t pour from an empty cup… and the only way to avoid draining yourself is to stick to what feels right in your gut.
2. Self educate
A more obvious thought when it comes to the topic of investing in oneself is to actually invest in educational courses, apps, and development programs.
When you take initiative over learning new skill sets, starting side projects, and addressing your mental health, you become a much more empowered, confident human being.
Another tip along these lines is to read more books! It’s crazy how much we can learn simply from the stories and wisdom of others who validate the power of personal development.
3. Love yourself
It’s pretty difficult to allot ample energy for yourself when you can’t accept the person staring back at you in the mirror!
Once you learn to love who you are today, regardless of past mistakes, flaws, and shortcomings, you are much more likely to be kind to yourself and feel you’re deserving of affection AND attention.
4. Improve your personal finances
Investing in yourself as a high value woman is different from investing in the traditional financial sense- however, there is a correlation between personal and financial wellness!
When you take charge of bettering your financial landscape, you open space to concentrate on your passions, close relationships, and self pampering measures.
Here are some strategies to improve your personal finances:
- Stick to a monthly budget if you tend to overspend on luxuries
- Pay yourself first! Saving is the key to long-lasting personal and professional success
- Eliminate debts – or avoid accruing them in the first place
- When you’re in the position – purchase assets that benefit your long term financial picture

5. Keep growing your horizons
Oftentimes, the biggest limit we place on ourselves is our own perception of what’s possible for us.
In order to break through this self-limiting behavior, it’s important to adopt an abundance mindset.
Recognize that your possibilities are limitless – there are countless opportunities waiting to be forged in your favor. The catch is that nobody’s coming to do the forging for you, though.
This process hinges on your own willingness to expand your horizons and revamp your headspace.
6. Maintain your physical appearance
When you look better, you feel better.
Comprehending how to invest in yourself as a woman begins when you learn the difference between what lifts you up and what weighs you down.
Exercise, an active lifestyle, and taking care of your body go a long way. Things like always smelling fresh, following a beneficial skincare routine, regular doctor visits, and having good hygiene boost your self-esteem and influence the way you show up in the world.
7. Make your emotional and spiritual wellness a priority
So frequently, we get caught up in the to-do’s that we forget we can only go as far as our emotional state will take us!
I believe that always investing in yourself through emotional and spiritual self care is fundamental to becoming the highest version of yourself.
Possessing a stable sense of well-being provides fertile soil for self discovery. With these pillars in place, you can build a stable foundation for your personal development initiatives.
8. Stay off social media
Don’t get sucked into the comparison game. Remember that social media is a highly curated, overly edited highlight reel – and real life is not!
Consider setting limits on your screen time and decluttering your digital presence. If you still aren’t feeling great after scrolling through your feed, I’d suggest deleting the apps entirely.
9. Leave your comfort zone behind
Having new, unique experiences that take you outside of your normal, day-to-day life is extremely important to your self development journey.
There is a major limit on how well you can possibly know yourself when you are not experimenting with your potential.
One tip to ditching your comfort zone is to develop a list of things that scare you (i.e. skydiving, cliff jumping, traveling solo, etc.) and pick one thing to master every six months or so. Have fun conquering your fears! 🙂
10. Establish self care routines
Morning routines, evening routines, Sunday night routines… there are so many ways to incorporate self care into your self investment practice!
As we discussed earlier, investing in yourself as a woman is all about placing time, energy, and effort into awakening the highest version of yourself. This goes hand in hand with taking optimal care of your well-being!

11. Foster your relationships
Whether it’s a significant other, a close friend, or your sibling, life is nowhere near as sweet without close companions to share it with!
Dedicating time to dating, building a social life, and keeping in touch with distant family is extremely important. I suggest parceling out time every month to make weekend plans, follow up with the guy who asked you for coffee last week, and FaceTime your mom!
You can recharge your social battery when it’s over – remember that neglecting your personal relationships entirely has far worse consequences.
12. Embrace being alone
If you can’t stand on your own two feet, you likely haven’t gotten vulnerable enough to understand who you really are.
The art of being alone but not lonely is paramount to investing in yourself as a high value woman. Knowing your standards, values, and priorities, and being able to communicate them effectively, sets you apart from those who are not self aware.
Some solo date ideas include:
- Going out to brunch alone
- Booking a weekend getaway for some tropical R&R
- Taking an hour-long walk alone and listening to a podcast episode
- Exploring a neighborhood on the other side of town you’ve always been curious about

13. Invest in therapy
Speaking about your feelings and talking through unresolved trauma will seriously work wonders as you learn how to invest in yourself.
Oftentimes, you don’t notice how much you’ve been holding deep inside yourself until you start venting to a counselor. These licensed professionals know how to handle your emotions.
And there is absolutely NO shame to be had in asking for help with your mental wellness! Ever!
14. Believe in yourself
The relationship you have with yourself sets the tone for how others respect and treat you in this world.
Plus, if you don’t think you’re capable of achieving greatness because you lack confidence, how will you ever find the motivation and discipline to continuously uplevel yourself?
If you aren’t going to believe in yourself, who will?!
15. Find a mentor
As we’ve already established, the best investment is always yourself. The next best investment, however, may very well be in finding a mentor!
Think about it this way: if you aren’t aware that a certain career field, lifestyle, or salary exists, you will never see it as attainable for you because you’re in the dark.
Having the right mentor in your life to coach and inspire you toward success can revolutionize your entire reality. Great places to locate potential mentors include local meetup groups, LinkedIn, professional networks, neighbors, and college professors.
16. Mindfulness meditation
I know, I can already hear you whispering how you can’t sit still long enough to meditate. I was the same way for about five years before I finally caved in…
And my life has been permanently changed!
Like I said earlier, leaving your comfort zone behind is critical to actualizing the most authentic, genuine version of yourself.
Using free meditation apps and online mindfulness resources to start your spiritual journey is a great entryway to success in this space. It doesn’t have to be time-consuming or costly – there are so many ways to get started!
Here’s a free mindfulness video I listen to multiple times a week:
17. Develop a hobby
Having a passion project or hobby that brings you true fulfillment and joy is unmatched.
View this as a gift to yourself – something you absolutely adore doing regardless of whether money is in the picture.
Lucky for you, if you don’t know where to start, there are so many hobbies to choose from:
- Painting
- Cooking or baking
- Yoga
- Coding
- Volunteering with local organizations
- Repairing cars
18. Journaling
Journaling is one of the most powerful wellness practices you can take up as you become aware of how to invest in yourself mentally.
Think of this as a five to ten-minute brain dump, where you let go of any nagging thoughts or obsessive memories in your head, and simply release them onto the page.
Here are two of my favorite, simple journals to get you started:
19. Stay in alignment with your energy
Similar to one of the earlier tips concerning setting boundaries, this concept is based on the philosophy that we can only evolve if we are happy with the direction we’re headed in to begin with.
It’s better to stand alone than to stand with a crowd headed in the wrong direction.
Do not succumb to the trends or to what all your peers are doing – stay true to your inner voice, and make decisions that consciously align with your deepest energy.
20. Look after your environment
Have you ever heard the saying that you are a product of the environment you encompass yourself in?
The physical setting you live in daily can seriously impact your stress levels, eagerness to succeed, and understanding of what’s possible for you.
Be mindful not only of your physical environment, but of the people and situations you let into your atmosphere as well. Whether you recognize it or not, they are affecting your perception of your own self-worth.
21. Hit rock bottom
This final tip may be one of the most controversial ones on this list, but I had to include it.
Whenever I’ve been absolutely disoriented, lost, and unaware of who I am in life… I became the best version of myself shortly afterward.
Do not fear hitting your all-time lows; these failures, heartbreaks, and sufferings create a human being so well-versed, emotionally intelligent, and strong, that you will look back and all you’ll see is pure magic.
